Gigantic Snake Spotted In Mpumalanga
There was a mixture of hysteria and awe as a gigantic snake made it presence felt in the Graskop area of Mpumalanga. Resident and tourists alike gathered to witness what seemed like a scene straight out a Hollywood movie as the enormous creature had to be tranquilized and carried by an army truck.
Judging by its sheer size the snake is believed to be very old and has managed to live that long because of its isolation and by keeping a low profile
“In my 20 years as a park ranger I’ve never come across anything like that!” Mr Morris Prinsloo, from the wildlife spoke with iMzansi.
Further investigation revealed that the snake lived in a cave about 10km from the site where it was spotted. Numerous remains of crushed animals were found on the scene.
“We are not going to harm the snake. We’re strictly against harming animals. We’re just going to take it for a check, collect DNA samples and enter some records in the registry. After that we’ll release it back into the wild” Mr Prinsloo reassured the public.
While some are baying for the snake’s blood the wildlife authorities believe it is a rarity and should be conserved.
“It’s a national treasure now. More tourists including high-profile scientist will come to see the snake.” The ranger also added that they have put a tag on the creature that alerts them to its movement as it is an endangered species.
Frankly, we’re still trying to swallow down the shock here at iMzansi
